ALMATY, Kazakhstan – The Government of the Netherlands, represented by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kazakhstan has awarded three contracts under the framework of the Small Embassy Projects Programme, funded by the Official Development Aid poverty reduction fund of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- Kyrgyzstan Earthquake Emergency Appeal. The project is implemented by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies / Regional Delegation for Central Asia. The Netherlands Government contribution is a part of the total relief budget aimed at distributing essential items to the affected communities.
- Poverty Reduction Small Grants in Kyrgyz Republic. The project is implemented by Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia and is aimed at contributing to core poverty intervention. Small grants will be provided to locally based NGOs in order to support community-based initiatives and empower individuals at grassroots level.
- Micro-Finance Initiative in Mangistau Region. The project is implemented by Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia and is designed to support private sector development and to contribute to local ownership and poverty reduction. The project is also co-funded by the ABN Amro Foundation.
